After he had
received his Mts-certificate in 1978 Herbert Meulenbroek founded his own
company: Meulenbroek yacht construction.
The first
large order was building a casco for a 10 meter motoryacht.Via a
papertrader in Enschede he came in contact with a German firm which had
placed around 60 wastepresses in the Netherlands. For that German firm
he agreed to do the service and maintenance of these 60 machines.
Meanwhile, younger brother Maarten had also earned his Mts-certificate,
and joined the venture!
In 1981,
beside service and maintenance for the machines in the Netherlands the
German firm also offered the representation and so the eldest brother
Joost also joined the venture.

It soon
became clear that in the Netherlands there was a need for small
Wastepresses. Meulenbroek then designed and built their first wastepress.
Its first own product was born, the KPC 4500 with a nett content of 4.5
m³.
The KPC 4500 was sold in the Netherlands under the name of Meulenbroek.
Also in Germany there proved to be a large market for smaller
wastepresses, especially after the fall of the Berlin wall, as a result
of which also the first export started.

In May
1985 contact was established with a Swedish firm. The first export order
to Sweden followed in September of that year. Today Sweden is still one
of the largest importers of our presses.
Export
became increasingly important to us. At present you can see our
wastepresses at work in: Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Cyprus,
France, Curaçao, Japan and China. In recent years our exports to Asia
have increased greatly.
